The Trempa Orrùbia apple tree is a native variety originating in Ogliastra, particularly in the area of Ussàssai, where its presence has been documented since the 1800s. Its cultivation also extends to nearby municipalities such as Villanova Strisaili, Villagrande Strisaili, and Fonni. The Sardinian name Trempa Orrùbia means “red cheek” and refers to the distinctive red coloration that develops on the side of the fruit exposed to the sun.
