Description
The White-Flowered Chickpea of Musei is a historic variety cultivated in the Cixerri valley, centered around the town of Musei, since the early decades of the 20th century. Valued for the quality of its legumes, it has been preserved by generations of local farmers. As Giovanni Portas recounts, in the 1930s his grandfather hid bags of chickpeas to protect them from drought, fires, and grazing, ensuring the survival of the variety. Today, it is still cultivated as a testament to the area’s agricultural tradition and biodiversity.
