Giara horses

The Giara horse takes its name from the homonymous basalt plateau of Sardinia, where it still lives today in the wild. Ancient and resistant, it is one of the very few Italian equine breeds not to have been crossed with the English Thoroughbred, thus retaining unique genetic and behavioural characteristics.
